1. Turn Off the Printer
Start by turning off the printer and unplugging it from the power source. This ensures your safety and prevents any internal damage during the removal process.

2. Open the Printer Cover
Gently open the top or rear cover of the printer depending on your model. Check the paper path carefully to locate the jammed paper.

3. Remove the Jammed Paper
Slowly and firmly pull the jammed paper out. Avoid tearing it, as any leftover pieces can cause further jams. If the paper is stuck under the ink cartridge holder, gently move the holder to access the paper.

4. Check the Rear Tray and Output Slot
Paper can also get stuck in the rear tray or output slot. Remove the paper cassette if needed and inspect all areas. Use a flashlight if visibility is low.

5. Close All Covers and Reconnect
After making sure there’s no paper left inside, close all covers securely. Plug in the power cord and turn on the printer.

6. Test the Printer
Print a test page to ensure everything is working normally. If the printer still shows a paper jam error, double-check for any tiny bits of paper left inside.

Tips to Avoid Future Paper Jams

  • Use clean, dry, and properly sized paper.

  • Avoid overloading the paper tray.

  • Keep the printer in a dust-free area.

  • Fan the paper stack before loading to prevent sheets from sticking together.

If the problem continues even after cleaning, it may be time to contact Canon support or take the printer to a service center.
